Programming for Data Science labs (Python and SQL)

From basic Python and NumPy to pandas, matplotlib/seaborn, scikit-learn and SQL on Databricks

Problem

Guided labs from the programming course, from the base language to SQL extraction.

Data

himno_guatemala_comas.csv, ventas_simuladas.csv (generated for the visualisation lab), Iris (bundled with scikit-learn) and course databases on Databricks for the SQL lab (Grupo 13).

Methods

  • Labs 1–4: basic Python and data structures
  • Lab 5: SQL extraction on Databricks (Grupo 13, with a queries-and-results PDF)
  • Lab 6: NumPy and functions
  • Lab 7: pandas on a sales CSV
  • Lab 8: 8 matplotlib and 12 seaborn charts on simulated sales, each analysed by type, purpose and audience
  • Lab 9: scikit-learn on Iris (models and scaler saved as .pkl/.joblib)
