Productivity overview — GarmentPro Industries

Actual vs target productivity by department, team and quarter, designed for visual attention

Problem

Compare actual vs target productivity and find which operational variables (overtime, idle time, style changes, incentives) are associated with lower performance.

Data

Team productivity records for the sewing and finishing departments (12 teams each), with overtime, idle time, style changes and incentives.

Methods

  • KPIs vs target
  • Department × quarter heatmap
  • One highlighted team against greyed-out peers
  • Scatter and bar charts relating variables
  • Deliberate use of colour and saturation to guide attention

Results

  • Average productivity 0.74 vs a 0.73 target.
  • Finishing beats its target (0.75 vs 0.74); Sewing matches it (0.72).
  • Without idle time average productivity ranges 62.5%–75.2%; with idle time it drops to 43.6%–52.9%.
  • Sewing uses far more overtime without a proportional productivity gain.
  • Records with 150 and 300 idle minutes and ~35%–37% productivity are flagged as possible bottlenecks.
